Innovation has been part of Fonderies de Sougland’s DNA since its creation.

At the beginning of the 20th century, there was already an invention allowing for an improvement in the working conditions and performance of our workshops. See "Our background"

This is why we have chosen to integrate research and development directly into our workshops.

While the proximity between our company and the needs of our customers is obvious, it is also of a definite advantage.

 

Being open to the improvements that our partners would like, triggering a thought process, being able to develop full-scale tests directly at client premises and within our structure, and lastly validating these via collaborations with external players (laboratories, research centres, universities, etc.), is a unique opportunity that we have decided to offer.

Our research and development is supported by several key elements in our structure :

 

  • A project manager who looks into all the practical cases submitted by our customers and coordinates the various stages of the process.
  • Metallurgy experts who can indicate possible improvement in the metal grades used.
  • An internal design office capable, amongst other things, of re-designing a part by suggesting modifications useful for better production (re-design to cost), but also of simulating the casting or cooling.
  • Qualified inspectors who provide decision-making elements by objectifying observations in the field.
  • Collaboration with technology platforms, independent laboratories, research centres (within universities and independent), which allows for validating our proposals on the basis of facts.

 

All these elements allow us to maintain a constant dynamic for innovation and added value for our customers.
